License keys
A license key is a string that authorizes a defined number of
Macs (maxSeats) to run BlueSender. License keys are issued
out-of-band — typically by a billing or provisioning tool — and then
used by each Mac during device pairing.
Issuing a license
License issuance is not part of the public integration contract
today. Licenses are provisioned out-of-band by the BlueSender
operator (typically off the back of an upstream billing event such
as a Stripe payment). The end-user receives the resulting
licenseKey and enters it into the BlueSender Mac app.
If you are an integrator: assume you will be handed a licenseKey
and skip ahead to device pairing.
Where the license goes next
After issuance, the end-user enters the licenseKey into the
BlueSender Mac app. The Mac then claims a seat on the license; if
the license already has maxSeats active devices, the Mac surfaces
a "release a device first" prompt instead. See Device
pairing for what happens on the Mac side.
